Use these amounts as conservative starting doses. Product labels, manufacturer guidance, local codes, and professional advice take priority. Never mix chemicals, and add one product at a time with the pump running.

Backwash and recharge
- Turn off the pump at the control and breaker if required by your equipment.
- Move the multiport valve only while the pump is off. Set it to BACKWASH.
- Turn the pump on and backwash until the sight glass or discharge runs clear.
- Turn the pump off, set to RINSE for about 20-30 seconds, then turn it off again.
- Return the valve to FILTER, restart the pump, and confirm normal flow.
- Add the manufacturer-specified DE recharge amount slowly through the skimmer. A normal backwash often uses less than a full-clean charge.
- Record the new clean pressure. Stop and inspect grids, manifold, valve, or plumbing if DE returns to the pool.
Never operate a DE filter without the required DE coating. Follow the filter label/manual for the exact recharge weight.
